Vivid Sydney, ‘NURA’ Lighting installation
Vivid Sydney is an annual celebration of creativity, innovation, music, food and technology, which transforms Sydney for 23 days and nights. In 2022, for its 12th year, Vivid Sydney fused art, innovation and technology in collaboration with some of the most boundary-pushing artists, thinkers and musicians of our time.
Vivid Sydney is owned, managed and produced by Destination NSW, the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency. I was commissioned by and collaborated with MANDYLIGHTS to deliver 150 Indigenous designs for the 2022 VIVID Festival.
These designs were printed onto poly-propylene sheets which were then transformed into cylindrical poles.
The columns lit up at night and continuously changed colours throughout the evening.
The site for my work was along the paths located harbour-side, extending from North Barangaroo through to Walsh Bay, at the other end of this public park area.
2022 saw the first incorporation of the VIVID Festival into the Barangaroo precinct. This location provided an amazing setting for the most exciting installation and event.
